Cross country

This phase will consist of 21 obstacles and 28 efforts set over a distance of 3650m. The fences are made of very solidly built natural objects (logs, poles, shrub walls etc.) as well as various obstacles such as ponds and ditches or combinations of the two categories, the idea being to mimic obstacles that could normally occur in the countryside.

The riders have to finish the run within a given time frame, called optimum time. For each second over this given time, the riders are given penalties, as well as for every disobedience of the horse (refusal to go over an obstacle).

The track is designed by Andrew Fell, from Ireland, FEI Course Designer
